May 02, 1781

THE EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, May 2, 1781  One-third of the front page, and nearly a column on page 2, is taken up with a very lengthy & detailed letter from Sir Henry Clinton to Lord Germain, dated at New York. A great wealth of content concerning the Revolutionary War, just a few bits of which include: "...At this time I received information that the rebel General Washington had made a considerable detachment to the southward under the Marquis de Fayette...or reinforcing the army under the rebel General Greene..." and further on: "...information arrived from Brig. General Arnold, dated the 8th, that the Chesapeak was entirely clear of a French naval force..." and much, much more.
Most of the balance of page 2 is taken up with other additional reports from America on the Revolutionary War, much too much to report or photograph here. And the war-related content carries over to page 3 as well.
Four pages, folio size, light damp staining, generally good.
