THE EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, Sept. 11, 1780

There are a few items relating to the Revolutionary War, including a ftpg. item: "When the unhappy differences between Great Britain and America began, I for my own part, entertained the same notions of the justice of our quarrel..." with more (see). Page 3 includes: "When the last ships came from New York the French and Americans were fortifying Rhode Island in a very extraordinary manner..." Also a report critical of Parliament including: "...What are these ministers, gentlemen, that have so long duped & oppressed you? Men, who have for years professed every thing & performed nothing. they told you they would bring America to your fee; but America is independent...They promised your conquest & it ends in disgrace; they engage to conquer America and it terminates in a new house tax upon Westminster; they have made America perfectly an independent state..." with a bit more.
Four pages, folio size, nice condition.
