THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, January, 1784  Among the articles are: "Causes of the Increase of Villainy" "Doubts Started Relative to the Gunpowder Plot" "Complete List of Stamps Alphabetically Digested" which takes over 4 pages; "Summary of Proceedings in the Fourth Session of the Present Parliament" which takes 14 pages; and even more.
Near the back is the latest news of the day including half a column of "American Affairs" (see).
Both plates called for are present, one of which is a foldout.
Complete in 76 pages, 5 by 8 inches, with a full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate. The title page is slightly closed trimmed at the upper right margin but no loss, very nice condition. This periodical was the first ever to use the word "magazine" in its title.
