Most of the front page is taken up with: "A Reply to Lieut. General Burgoyne's Letter to his Constituents" which begins: "After your surrender to the American army...you expressed your 'confidence' in the justice of the King...to support the general they had thought proper...Sensible of having lost an army, of having depressed the hopes of your country, or having elated the spirit of her enemies..." with much more concerning his historic surrender at Saratoga (see for portions). There is a stain in this report which affects about 15 words (see).
Elsewhere is a note: "...that Court D'Estaing touched at Long Island the 24th or 25th of September where he agreed with General Washington to sail for & seize Rhode Island..." with a bit more (see). A few other brief reports concerning the Revolutionary War.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, in nice condition save for the noted stain on the front page.
