Lee, One of the Mormon Murderers, Found Guilty" with the article a bit further down the column, headed: "The Mormon Massacre Trial - The Verdict Against Lee", which was the case of the Mountain Meadow Massacre from 1857. Within the text is: "...The prisoner, J. D. Lee, stands before you charged with being a participant in one of the most atrocious massacres of human beings...jury retired at 11:45 a.m., and at 3:30 p.m. returned with a verdict of murder in the first degree." with more (see photos).
