* Willie Mays "The Catch"
* 1954 World Series of baseball
* New York Giants

In the world of sports history--and certainly in baseball history--an event which ranks high on the list of most historic moments is "the catch" by Willie Mays during the first game of the 1954 Major League Baseball World Series. It was the eighth inning and the score was tie at 2-2, two runners on, and Giants' center fielder Willie Mays, who was playing in shallow center field, made an on-the-run-over-the-shoulder catch on the warning track to make the out. The Giants would go on to win the game, and the World Series.
The sports page (pg. 12) has a few headings concerning this game with: "Mays Says There Was Nothing Too Hard About Catch" and three related photos.
The complete 16 page issue, minor spine wear, otherwise nice.
