August 03, 1921

BUFFALO EXPRESS, New York, August 3, 1921  This has one of the best headlines to be had for this notable event in baseball history: the not guilty verdict in the "Black Sox" scandal of the 1919 Major League Baseball World Series. The banner headline reads: "WHITE SOX PLAYERS ARE NOT GUILTY". This trial involved seven players of the Chicago White Sox accused of throwing the Series.
Among the subheads are: "Charges Of Conspiracy Do Not Hold" and "Wild Scenes in Courtroom as Jury Declares Men Innocent of Crime" and a few more. The coverage carries over to page 2 as well.
Also on the front page is the report of the death of famed tenor Erico Caruso, with a photo of him (see).
Complete in twelve pages, light toning, minor wear at the central fold with some archival mends here on page 2. Generally in nice condition.
A nice displayable newspaper of one of the more infamous events in baseball history.
