SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, New York, Nov. 5, 1898 This is a very significant magazine in the history of automobiles, as the noted reference work "Kane's Famous First Facts" notes that the mentioned advertisement was the first automobile ad ever published in America. It is not the first appearance, which was in the issue of July 30, 1898.
A back page advertisement is headed: "Another Lot of New Ones" and describes the "Winton Motor Carriage" manufactured by "The Winton Motor Carriage Co., Cleveland, Ohio".
The advertisement is 2 1/4 x 2 1/2 inches and includes a small but nice woodcut of the car.
Full of other scientific achievements & improvements & various photos & illustrations.
Complete in 16 pages, has a couple small archival mends, otherwise in nice condition.
