Jewish Holocaust... public reality... Nazi atrocities...
Item # 589850
July 27, 1943
THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 27, 1943
* Mussolini ousted...
* Jewish Holocaust being known for the 1st time
* Nazi-occupied Poland exterminations
This 36 page newspaper has a nice banner headline on the front page: "ITALY PUT UNDER MARTIAL LAW BY BADOGLIO TO PREVENT CIVIL WAR; FASCIST RULE ENDED" with subheads. Much more inside with related photos. Page 9 has one column headlines: "POLISH EXECUTIONS PUT AT 3,200.000", "Wiadyslaw Banaczyk Draws Gruesome Picture of Nazis' Extermination Methods", "Children Kicked To Death" and "Minister Details Gassing of Adults--Sees Reich Aim at Ethnographic Defense Line". See photos for coverage on the ongoing atrocities in Nazi-occupied Poland where extermination of the Jewish population was most prevalent. Rare to find such reports in newspapers at this time as the reality of the holocaust was just being realized.
What better evidence to confirm of what really happened then having a 1st hand account from the day it was first reported.
Other news, sports and and advertisements of the day throughout with much on World War II. Nice condition.
