There is a full page headed "American News" including reports several reports from Boston, including: "...There is much talk...the most malignant insinuations...& speaks of deep & dark designs...of 30,000 men ready to take up arms...and of a design to throw off the dependence of the colonies on the mother country..." with more. Also reports from Hartford and New York, the latter containing: "...people here are in the  utmost consternation at what we hear from Britain...that the Ministry want to make them slaves or beggars. The spirit of discontent is universal..." (see). Another lengthy report from Boston focuses on the discontent of the colonists (see).

Among the additional articles within this issue are: "Method of Proceeding in Electing of a Pope", "On the General use & Introduction of Tobacco", and the "Historical Chronicle" which has latest news items of the day & which includes a letter from General Paoli written from Corsica. Included is the full page plate called for, featuring "A Hand Corn Mill" recently invented (see).

Complete in 48 pages with a full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, very nice condition.

A very nice magazine from during the midst of troubles leading to the Revolutionary War from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
