Page 2 has an early report on the slave ship Amistad, headed: "The Suspicious Schooner". The brief report notes: "...a...that the marshal and clerk of the district left there that morning to take possession of the strange vessel brought into New London, and mentions that it is probable that the crew will be carried to New Haven for examination by the proper authorities.". (see photos). A brief yet very early item concerning the slave ship Amistad, the famous event Stephen Spielberg made into the movie "Amistad" in 1997.
Complete in four pages, this issue is a large folio size, and is in nice condition.
