May 22, 1790

MASSACHUSETTS CENTINEL, Boston, May 22, 1790  Page 2 has "Manufactures" which notes: "The President of the United States, in addition to his own example, has ordered that the uniforms of his household be made of cloth manufactured at Hartford in Connecticut." Also on page 2: "Alarming Intelligence" which notes: "We have been all anxiety on account of the President. On Monday evening...he was seized with the influenza which on Thursday increased to an alarming height...I believe he will get well...Heaven, in mercy, spare his life. Good God! what would our loss have been had he departed at this time? But he will live..." (see).
Page 2 also has an: "Elegiack Ode on the Death of Dr. Franklin" who died just the previous month.
Four pages, never-trimmed margins, nice condition.
