From the Reconstruction period following the Civil War

Item # 587533 THE NEW YORK TIMES, June - August, 1865

* Five newspapers at the Civil War's end

When the last hostilities of the Civil War ended in May, 1865, it began the long period of healing for the divided country. The months immediately after the close of the war were full of uncertainly as to how to reconnect, how to heal, and how to repair all the damages of four years of war, both physical & physiological.

Here is a collection of 5 different issues of the venerable "Times" from New York, dating from this significant period of the formation of a reunited country, June - August, 1865, and each containing reports of the Reconstruction.

The images shown provide a view of the look and condition of the issues you will receive, but actual issues vary.  However, each issue will be complete in 8 pages, will have some light soiling or damp staining as would be expected from the period; generally good condition (as shown).
