From the early days of the California Gold Rush are page 2 report headed: "From California" "Mass Meeting at San Francisco--Mint Petitioned For" and "The Insatiable Thirst of Gold" with some bits including: "...Whilst Mr. Cutting was on the placer, a lump of gold was found weighing 18 ounces...the placer is 400 miles long...He gives a glowing description of the country & its abundant resources...We believe we echo the sense of the country when we assert that slavery is neither needed nor desired here..." & more, with the latter article beginning: "The discovery of inexhaustible stores of gold in California has excited widely that feverish desire to grow suddenly rich..." with much more (see photos).
Complete in four pages, this issue is irregular at the spine and archivally repaired here, but is otherwise in very nice condition.
