THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Sept. 29, 1781 The bottom of the front page has a small item noting: "...that General Washington had not given up his intended attack on New York, but finding the situation of the garrison much stronger than he expected had only fallen back to wait for the necessary ordnance to form the siege..." (see). Page 2 includes: "...arrived in town from Charlestown, South Carolina...informs us 'That the distresses of the people, both loyalists & rebels, are beyond description...The rebel forces as naked as their families. Those who have escaped from their tyrants fly to the environs of the town..." with a chart on the: "...present State of the Army in the Service of the American Congress" (see).
Further on is over half a page of: "American News" which has some nice war reports with datelines from New York, Fishkill and Albany (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, nice condition.
