THE ROCHESTER EVENING EXPRESS, New York, April 21, 1865

* President Abraham Lincoln's funeral
* Gettysburg Address - Inaugural Address

A terrific issue on many accounts, as the front page has: "The Last Address of the President to the Country" which includes his 2nd inaugural address, signed by him in type: Abraham Lincoln. It is prefaced by some nice editorial commentary (see). Also of significance is a complete printing of his famous Gettysburg Address, prefaced with in part: "At the consecration of the Gettysburg National Cemetery...where Edward Everett made an elaborate & graceful oration & others spoke fitly & well, the only address which the world will remember was that of the President, who simply said:..." and what follows is the famous address beginning: "Four score and seven years ago..." (see).
The inside pages have notable content as well including: "Obsequies of President Lincoln" "Parole of Lee's Army Completed" "Booth Traced to Tamaqua" "President Lincoln's Remains in Baltimore" "Paroling Lee's Army" "Letter of John Wilkes Booth" "He Confesses that he was Engaged in a Plot to Capture & Carry off the President" & more.
Four pages, large folio size, nice condition.
