October 07, 1721

THE LONDON GAZETTE, England, Oct. 7, 1721  The entire front page has: "By the KIng, A PROCLAMATION" requiring people coming from any place on the coast of France north of the Bay of Biscay, to bring bills or certificates of Heath. The Proclamation begins: "Whereas we have received information that severeal places in the Southern parts of France continue to be infected with the Plague; & that the infection has of late extended itself further within that Kingdom..." with much more, carrying over to take over half of page 2.
Page 5 contains a report headed: "South Sea House". The South Sea Bubble was the first stock market crash in England and is significant in business & economic history as such. Involving much manipulation, fraud and other devious practices, information on this "bubble" might best to learned thru a Google search.  Ultimately a fascinating piece of history particularly in light of recent events on Wall St. and elsewhere.
Six pages, minor tears at the margin, very nice condition.
