December 17, 1811

NEW HAMPSHIRE PATRIOT, Concord, New Hampshire, Dec. 17, 1811

* Battle of Tippecanoe - Indians
* William Henry Harrison
* Tecumseh - The Prophet

Page 2 has a very historic report on the significant battle of Tippecanoe, being an: "Extract of a Letter from Governor Harrison to the Secretary of War, dated Head-quarters near the Prophet's Town, Nov. 8th, 1811" This is the official letter signed in type by: Wm. Henry Harrison, in which he reports on the battle with various details (see photos). In this battle, The Prophet led a successful surprise attack on Harrison's forces, but Harrison's men were able to repulse them despite heavy losses. The frontier settlers claimed a great victory despite an indecisive result, adding more power to the "war hawks" of Congress and causing the British in Canada to withdraw their support of Tecumseh & The Prophet.
Page 3 has an editorial report concerning the battle, headed: "Battle On The Wabash" which takes nearly a column.
Four pages, great condition.
