This is one of only a few newspaper which printed: "Confederate States of America" in the dateline (see). Among the front page reports on the Civil War are: "Latest From Virginia--Gen. W. S. Walker Heard From--His Foot Amputated--No Fighting Up to Twelve M. Monday--Northern News" "From General Johnston's Army--Movements of Both Sides--Our Troops In Fine Spirits!" "Lieut. Wm. Sinkler" "Siege of Charleston" "From The Virginia Front" "Casualties in South Carolina Regiments" "Most Cheering News From Virginia" "Morgan's Fight with Averill" and more. Also on the ftpg. is: "General Lee's Orders" which is signed by him in type: R. E. Lee, General (see).
The back page is mostly taken up with advertisements but it does have a few smaller reports concerning the Civil War, one noting: "Deserters say that Grant has lost 90,000 of his best men & that they cannot be replaced..." (see).
Complete as a single sheet newspaper in great condition.
