THE NEW YORK TIMES, Aug. 13, 1861
* Stevens Battery ironclad prints
* United States Navy
The front page has a very unusual illustration, being three views of: "The Stevens Battery" beneath which is considerable descriptive text beneath it (see for portions). Plus the top of the first column has many Civil War heads including; "The Great Rebellion" "Important News from the National Capital" "Operations of the Rebels Down the Potomac" "Reported Capture of Wise & his Entire Command" and more (see).
Complete in 8 pages, very nice condition. It is rare to see a print of a naval vessel on the front page of a Civil War newspaper.
