September 18, 1908

THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS, Dallas, Texas, Sept. 18, 1908

* Orville Wright injured
* Thomas Etholen Selfridge killed
* 1st powered airplane fatality

The top of the front page has comparatively large heads with coverage of what was the very first airplane fatality. The heads read: "ONE DEAD; WRIGHT HURT IN AEROPLANE ACCIDENT", "Lieut. Selfridge Loses Life and Inventor Seriously Injured When Propeller Blade Breaks", "Machine Turns Completely Over", "Two Aviators Buried Beneath Tangled Mass of wreckage When Aeroplane Falls at Fort Myer--Wright Not Dangerously Injured".

Also of interest--and quite rare--is a front page illustration of: "Orville Wright".

Complete in 12 pages, various tears at the edges, more so to the back leaves, some margin chipping, loose at the spine. Quite fragile so it must be handled carefully.
