DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Richmond, Virginia, Aug. 13, 1862 Not just a newspaper from the Confederacy, but from the capital of the Confederate States of America. The front page includes: "The Battle of Mitchell's Station" which includes a dispatch signed in type by: T. J. Jackson. Also: "The Wounded" with over half of the front page taken up with a long list of Acts from the Confederate Congress, most relating to the Civil War. A few include: "An Act to Organize a Signal Corps" "An Act to Organize Battalions of Sharpshooters" "Joint Resolutions of Thanks for the Victory at Shiloh, Tenn." "Ana Act for the Enlistment of Cooks In the Army" "An Act to Punish Drunkenness in the Army" and much more.
The back page includes the always interesting editorial, this one taking over a full column, this one focusing on the call in the North for 600,000 more troops, noting near the beginning: "When a cat suddenly leaps down into a room full of rates & mice, there is not a more interesting scene of scampering & confusion than that which has been going on at the North since Secretary Stanton has come down with a draft for 600,000 additional patriots..." (see photos). Also on the bkpg.: "Military Execution" Departure of Exchanged Yankee Officers" and other smaller items. Many ads as well including several reward ads (see photos).
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a full banner masthead, in very nice, clean condition.
