THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE London, May, 1778  Of significance is an article: "Account of the Examination of Gen. Burgoyne" concerning his actions which lead to losing the Battle of Saratoga, containing some interesting reading (see for portions).
Complete in 44 pages, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate. Lacking any plates called for.
A very nice Revolutionary War era magazine from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content including news of the day, political reports, literary items, and other unusual tidbits. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
