COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, Massachusetts,  Nov. 20, 1790

* President George Washington's house?
* Early United States government

Page 2 has an item from New York: "Great merit is claimed...by Mr. Morris for having been so gracious as to give up his house for the use of the President of the United States...Whether the giving up a house of moderate dimensions for seven hundred pounds a year can be deemed a great sacrifice, especially when it is considered that the President was accommodated in this city with a much more elegant house at 400 pounds per annum?"
Page 3 under: "Residence of Congress" notes: "The citizens of Washington County, Maryland, have petitioned the legislature of that state that the Ten Mile square district for the permanent seat of the government of the United States may be appropriated in that county; to be located by The President."
Four pages, very nice condition.
