Information on "The Texas"... on Commodore Decatur...

Item # 582052

March 25, 1830

NATIONAL GAZETTE AND LITERARY REGISTER, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, March 25, 1830  The back page of this issue contains an article entitled "The Texas" which was extracted from a gentleman's correspondence. "Texas is now in a very prosperous condition. -- There has been more emigration this winter than in several years past. The road is at present full of movers... In anticipation of the province falling into the hands of the United States, lands have taken an egregious rise. From two to five dollars per acre can now be obtained for first rate lands..." The article continues with descriptions of the territory.

The front page carries "Mr. Evans, of Maine, in his speech in Congress against the bill for the relief of Commodore Decatur, said --".  Other news and advertisements are within.

This is complete in four pages with several small tiny binding holes along the left spine, there are several tiny margin edge tears and the top of the issue is a little tattered, otherwise is in good condition.
