* Octavius Catto death
* Negro civil rights activist
* The great Chicago fire

The top of the first column has heads on the Great Chicago Fire: "REVIVING CHICAGO" "Graphic Picture of the City in its Present Condition" "Scenes at the Distribution of Food to the Sufferers" "Business Men Look the Disaster Full in the Face" "Pluck & Enterprise Clearing Away the Ruins" "Five Million Bushels of Grain Still in Store" "Searching the Ruins for the Bodies of the Victims" and a bit more. A few printing flaws (see) causes some text loss here.

See photo for text here. Octavius Catto was a pioneer in Negro baseball and much more.

8 pages, little spine wear, otherwise in nice condition.

wikipedia notes: Octavius Valentine Catto (22 February 1839 – 10 October 1871) was a black educator, intellectual, and civil rights activist. He was also known for being a cricket and baseball player in 19th-century Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Catto became a martyr to racism, as he was shot and killed in election-day violence in Philadelphia, where ethnic Irish attacked black men to prevent their voting.
