The Chicago fire...

Item # 581285

October 16, 1871

THE NEW YORK TIMES, Oct. 16, 1871 The front page first column has some nice heads on the Great Chicago Fire, including: "THE CITY OF CHICAGO" "A Quiet & Peaceful Sabbath Yesterday" "How the Citizens Observed the Day" "Rapid Growth of the Temporary Dwellings & Stores" "Interesting Resume of the Effects of the Great Fire" "Scenes &I Incidents Among the Ruins" (see). The text takes over half of the front page.
Eight pages, a printing crease in the first column causes little loss to the headlines (see), otherwise very nice condition.
