THE LONDON CHRONICLE, June 11, 1776

* Great year to have in
* John Hancock
* Guy Carleton

A page 2 report from Williamsburg begins: "We hear from N. Carolina that parties of men are dispersed all over the colony apprehending suspected persons & disarming all the highlanders & regulators that were put to the rout in the late battle…" with further particulars (see). Also an "Extract of a Letter from Cambridge, New England, dated March 27" concerning what was found upon the evacuation of Boston by the British. Another page has a 1 1/2 column letter signed in type by: Guy Carleton, concerning his efforts in defending this post in Canada, plus a related letter headed: "Copy of a Letter from General Carleton to General Howe dated Quebec, Jan. 12".
Another report from Philadelphia gives further war-related content. A back page item from Williamsburg tells of General Clinton & that: "…the provincial troops are in motion & marching from all quarters to attack him, so that we may soon expect to hear of another battle in that province which we hope will prove equally glorious to the American arms…". Plus a report from Philadelphia contains the results of Congress on March 6 wherein they determined what could & could not be exported from the Thirteen United Colonies,  signed in type: John Hancock, President (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/4 by 11 inches, very nice, clean condition. Great to have a newspaper from less than month before the Declaration of Independence.
