May 16, 1918

THE NEW YORK TIMES, May 16, 1918

* 1st regular airmail airplane U.S. service (historic)
* 1st airmail stamp delivery - Woodrow Wilson
* James C. Edgerton

This 24 page newspaper has one column headlines on the front page that include: "FIRST AIR MAIL IN WASHINGTON IN 200 MINUTES", "Flight from New York to Capital with Letters and Parcels Made Without Mishap", "Times In The First Pouch" and more (see images) with coverage continuing within the issue. A first report on the first official regular airmail service flight. A historic issue both in aviation and United States postal history as well. Lengthy text here, too much to photograph all. Nice to have in this famous NYC title.

Other news of the day. Light browning, minor margin wear, otherwise nice condition.
