* The Hunchback of Notre Dame premiers at Radio City Music Hall
Page 11 has a great 5 1/2 by 7 1/2 ad for the premier showing of Charles Laughton in Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" at Radio City Music Hall. This RKO production was released on this day. Staring Charles Laughton, Maureen O'Hara, etc., this was yet another classic release from 1939 (see note below). Other movie-related news from both Hollywood and New York is present as well.
This 36 page newspaper is complete, and is in very good condition (rag edition - made for institutions).
Note: 1939 featured more movies on the American Film Institute's "Top 100 Movies Of All Time" list (100th Anniversary Edition) than any other year. Others from 1939 include: Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, Stagecoach, and Wuthering Heights. This version of "Hunchback", while considered by most to be the best, did not make AFI's top 100 list.
