THE DEMOCRATIC WATCHMAN, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, April 19, 1912
* Sinking of the RMS Titanic (1st report)
* White Star Line
This was a weekly newspaper and the first issue published since the sinking of the Titanic. But because they knew they were later than daily editions, this headline is modest & appears at the top of page 5: "1300 Drowned" and "Titanic Hits Iceberg and Sinks". The report is quite detailed and takes over 2 columns, with subheads including: "Olympic Sent Terrible Tidings" "Ice Menaced Lifeboats" "A Terrible Scene" "Prominent Men Lost" and "Some of Those Saved" (see photos for portions).
Complete in 8 pages, in uncommonly nice condition as they used high quality newsprint, so still quite white and not fragile.
