CITIZEN SOLDIER, Norwich, Vermont, May 28,1841  "Devoted To the Interests of the Militia, Military Science & National Defense" as noted in the masthead, where also is found their motto: "In Times Of Peace, Prepare For War". Lasted but 52 issues, 9 1/2 by 12 1/2 in., a rare & uncommon title. Other than a little (typical) foxing, in great condition.

* The Definitive Treaty of Peace
* George Washington letter from Newburgh

This issue's content is best viewed through the images provided.  The front page contains the September, 1783 Definitive Treaty of Peace between the United States of America, and his Britannic Majesty.  Inside shows a brief history of the East India Company, a 1783 letter from George Washington to Bushrod Washington, a note regarding "Webster's American Dictionary",content regarding West Point academy, and "Incident in the Florida War" (a report from St. Augustine).  This issue also has a 1 2/3 column back page Biography of Louis Philippe (the last King of France), providing a mid-19th century glimpse of how he was viewed at the time. Considerable details re: his life are included.

Nice to have this content within a military-themed newspaper.
