THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Sept. 15, 1781  Page 2 has: "America" with a report datelined at New York noting, among other things, that: "Paul Jones is appointed to the command of a new rebel frigate, called the America." Also a letter from New York includes: "...that the rebel army, with the French, were then encamped within sight of the British lines & that they expected daily to be attacked...The French & rebels have collected a small force at the White Plains...but they dare not attack us...In Virginia things go on very well. Lord Cornwallis has lately...given M. La Fayette some chastisement for presuming to come too near him...The Congress money is now totally dead--Congress itself is sinking into such contempt that Thomas M'Keen is now appointed President..." and more (see).
The back page has over a full column of reports concerning America including: "Our last accounts from the Southward are that Greene, after his disgraceful repulse by Colonel Cruger at Ninety-Six, had retreated beyond Tyger River where we think many causes will concur to destroy his force. The French & the reels have lately made their appearance before our lines..." and more (see).
Eight pages, 9 by 12 inches, never bound nor trimmed (desired), very nice condition.
