THE CHARTER OAK, Hartford, Connecticut, Nov. 26, 1846  A very uncommon title originally published as the Christian Freeman by the Connecticut Anti-Slavery Society, and then under this title. Obviously has anti-slavery content as the front page has under the heading: "Anti-Slavery" an article: "The Next Presidential Election, by John. G. Whittier", as well as: "Slavery--What Is It? "and "Slaveholder and the Lion's Share", but there are many other articles as well which do not relate to slavery.
A volume I issue (number 47), has an engraving of an oak tree in the masthead. Some scattered foxing, generally nice condition.
Category: Pre-Civil War

100% Authentic: Original printing, never a reproduction.
