THE PENNSYLVANIA EVENING POST, Philadelphia, February 29, 1776  The top of the ftpg. has a nice Resolve from Congress, set in larger-than-normal type, concerning care of prisoners of war (see). This is followed by a very lengthy piece taking most of the ftpg. & half of pg. 2 concerning relations between America & England, with an oblique reference to the pamphlet "Common Sense" (see for portions), which is signed: "The Apologist". Pg. 2 has a report from Montreal which includes: "Quebec is inclosed by a considerable body of forces under Brigadier General Arnold. They hope to avoid storming & thereby prevent effusion of blood on both sides...These circumstances we flatter ourselves will engage General Carleton (out of humanity) to offer terms before the season becomes so advanced as to oblige the Continental army to force their admittance...".
Pages 2 & 3 contain text concerning residents of Connecticut who settled in Wyoming & Northumberland counties, including one letter signed in type: John Penn, Governor.  This text also includes a note on the election of members to serve as representatives to the General Assembly: "...for the city of Philadelphia, in the room of Benjamin Franklin, Esquire, who has resigned his seat in the said Assembly...".
All of page 4 is taken up with ads. Complete in 4 pages, measures about 8 by 10 inches, very nice condition.
