THE NEW YORK TIMES, New York, June 16, 1865  The frontpage of this issue has "The Emancipation Proclamation - Interesting Sketch of its History by the Artist, Carpenter" and "The Lincoln Monument - When Shall It be Erected?".  Page 5 has: "Out-Door Sports" " Base Ball" "Philadelphia Vs. Brooklyn". The summary mentions "a bevy of the fair ones" at the match and that "...with the crowd, the field of players in uniform, and the...banners on...flag-staffs on the grounds...the scene was picturesque in the extreme." About the game it mentions: "A feature of the play was the splendid batting of REACH...who made the finest hit ever seen on the ground." Says that the two teams with to the Masion Doree after the game "...where a splendid entertainment was provided...". Includes the box score.

Complete in 8 pages with some very lite scattered foxing, otherwise in very nice condition.
