THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Sept. 8, 1781 

* Revolutionary War nearing the end
* Troop movements


Inside has an item noting: "...sailed from Newport, in Rhode Island...that when he was leaving America the French army was in motion; the first division having marched the 16th...The 2nd of July both divisions were at Providence & ready to march for Fishkill &  Niewpoint which was within 67 miles of New York. It was reported...that Gen. Washington's advanced posts had obtained some advantages in a few light skirmishes, the object of which was to drive the English in from some of their outposts..." with more (see).
The back page has more war-related news including: "...letters from Sir Henry Clinton at New York...relative to the successes of Lord Cornwallis against the rebels in Virgina & Washington's gasconade against New York...General Campbell who was taken prisoner at Pensacola..." and a report from the New York Gazette includes: "...an action had happened in South Carolina between the royal army under the command of Lord Rawdon and the rebel forces under General Greene in which the latter was defeated...letter from Greene...near Ninety-Six, June 20, of an unsuccessful attack upon that place."
