June 02, 1864
RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, June 2, 1864  A nice Confederate newspaper, and great to have an issue from the capital of the Confederacy.
The ftpg. includes: "The War News" with some good reporting on events just prior to Cold Harbor (see for portions). Also on the ftpg. heads & subheads: "Very Latest From the North" "The Latest From General Johnston's Army" "The Tobacco Ration" "General Edward Johnson As A Prisoner of War" "From The Armies In Georgia" 'Battle Between Portions of the Armies--Fighting Along the Lines--The Big Battle Daily Looked For' "Retreat of Johnston's Army" "Conduct of the Enemy in the Towns & Places Occupied By Them--Georgia Under Yankee Rule" and a bit more. A small item tells of slaves being whipped for using obscene language (see).
The bkpg. includes the always-interesting editorial, taking close to two columns, as well has 2 1/2 columns of reporting from: "The Confederate Congress" and other items.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a one column masthead, typical from the latter months of the war as paper was scarce. In uncommonly nice, clean condition.
