March 12, 1864
DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, March 12, 1864

* Rare Confederate title from the rebel capital
* "The War News--Another Confederate Success"

A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy with a wealth of war-related news, from the Confederate perspective.

The front page has some nice war coverage with heads and subheads including; "The War News--Another Confederate Success" "From The Pennsula" "East Tennessee" "The Late Invasion of the Eastern Shore" with smaller items including: "The Richmond Defence Corps" concerning General Bragg; "The Flag of Truce Boat..." and a few other items. There is also a front page nice headed: "To The Friends of the Soldiers throughout the Confederacy" (see).

The back page has the always interesting editorial, taking close to two columns, which begins: "The military operations--if they deserve that title--of our invading enemies, begin to wear an unsettled, uncertain & desultory aspect..." with much more great content (see for portions). Also on the back page: "Additional From the North--The Corruption of the Authorities at Washington" "Autographs from some of the Shining Lights of the Abolition Party" "Lincoln's Mode of 'Re-Constructing' the Union" "Additional From Florida" "From Norfolk..." "Despondency in the Yankee Army" "War Debt of the North" "Desertion from the Rebel Army "Message of the Governor of Georgia" and a bit more.

Complete as a single sheet newspaper, minor loss to the blank margin at the upper left, wide margins, generally nice condition.
