Page 2 has a letter prefaced with: "The following are some particulars contained in a letter, said to be send from Colonel (now Brigadier General) Arnold, dated camp before Quebec, Jan. 6, 1776" begins: "The command of the army, by the death of Gen. Montgomery, devolved upon me; a task I find too heavy under my present circumstances. I received a wound by a ball through my left leg...I soon learned the death of our General, who attacked the town at the side opposite to me. He marched up in the face of their cannon..." with more (see).
The back page includes: "A letter from New York...says, 'Advice has been received here, by express from Montreal, that General Wooster & Colonel Arnold had raised the siege of Quebec the 27th of February & retired to Montreal which they had begun to fortify in the strongest manner possible...Had the succors arrived from New York in time, they would have continued the siege, but the want of numbers, with their defeat, occasioned this determination." (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, close-trimmed at the bottom does not affect any mentioned item, otherwise nice condition.
