THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, September 4, 1773 Page 2 has most of a column taken up with a terrific letter: "...from a considerable Merchant in Boston" which begins: "Although the impracticability of raising any taxes or customs wirh speaking of in this country is now...clearly seen on all sides...yet it seems as if our affectionate other country was still determined, out of spite, to plague and distress us by every possible means in its power..." and ending with: "...The Province & continent in general is ...increasing rapidly & the time may come...when our good mother country will experience the ill consequences of treating us in such a manner." (see)

Another page has a letter which includes: "...For this, by the arts of a few factious leaders at Boston, the whole country has been thrown into an alarm. Town meetings have been held and the King, Parliament, and people of Great Britain have been threatened & insulted in the grossest terms...These men...after having prepared & voted a number of absurd & mutinous resolutions, got themselves appointed a Committee of Correspondence and in that capacity wrote to all the towns in the province. More than a hundred villages or townships have joined with them in resolutions about grievances..." with more (see).
