ARMY & NAVY JOURNAL, New York, January 9, 1864  As noted in the masthead this was the: "Gazette of The Regular & Volunteer Forces" and as such is replete with military news of all sorts.

The entire ftpg. is taken up with a review of: "The Military Situation" with a wealth of war-related content. Other items within are headed: "A Wagon Brigade" "A Manual For the Sword" "The Effect of Muster" "General McClellan To the President" signed by him in type: George B. McClellan, being his report of the Seven Days' Battle with General Lee, datelined "Camp Near Harrison's Landing, Va.". Also: "Why Seamen Leave the Navy" , a report from "Congress" which includes a letter from the President concerning bounties, signed in type: Abraham Lincoln (see); "General Grant's Congratulatory Order to His Army" "The Battle of Chickamauga" "Preliminary Operations of the Army" "Soldier's Tricks"  and so much more.

Sixteen pages, 10 by 15 inches, slightly irregular at the spine, bit of light foxing, generally very nice.
