The top of page 2 has a report with small heads: "The Last Rail Laid" which notes the historic achievement: "East and West--The Last Rail is laid. The Last Spike is driven! The Pacific Railroad is Completed!  Points of junction ten hundred and eighty-six miles west of the Missouri river, and six hundred and ninety miles east of Sacramento." with signatures in type of Leland Stanford & others (see).

A small yet very significant report, and nice to have in a Northern California newspaper. Four pages, great condition.
