* Very rare pre Civil War Southern broadside
This is a very rare, single sheet broadside "Extra" edition, blank on the reverse, likely because of the shortage of paper as the top of the first column notes "We regret that we are unable to publish the 'Messenger' this week; not having received a supply of paper...". The balance of the first column has reports from "Congress" while the balance is taken up with ads, including two illustrated "Reward" ads for runaway slaves (see).
A very handsome issue, 11 1/2 by 18 1/2 inches, great condition.
