Death of a Declaration signer, Francis Hopkinson...

Item # 563237

May 10, 1791

DUNLAP'S AMERICAN DAILY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, May 10, 1791  Page 3 news includes a report that reads, in full: "Died Suddenly yesterday morning, the Hon. Francis Hopkinson, Esquire, District Judge of the United States, for the state of Pennsylvania. The interests of science and patriotism, will long deplore the loss of this valuable citizen".
Hopkinson was a signatory of the Declaration of Independence as a delegate of New Jersey. He was also actively involved in the designs of the American flag and the Great Seal.
Other news of the day with many ads. Second leaf has a small hole in the first column, otherwise nice, 4 pages.
