Tiburcio Vasquez' Assassins...

Item # 563134

January 4, 1874

SUNDAY CHRONICLE, San Francisco, California, January 4, 1874

* Famous Los Angeles, California bandit
* Tiburcio Vasquez assassins

On the front page under "The Vasquez Assassins" is a report: "Excitement in Fresno County--A Heavy Reward Likely to offered for the Villains' Capture." The report, datelined "Sacramento, January 3", talks of the "great consternation" caused by the continued depredations by Vasquez and his gang, plus mention that a posse watches the Court House at Kingston to protect "the treasury". Also says that group met with the governor about the need to organize a party "...to scour the country and capture the ruffians...", plus a few details about a reward & the money needed for such a "party".

Great to have in a California paper where these events occurred.

A few minor archival mends, little spine wear, otherwise good. 8 pages.
