SAVANNAH DAILY HERALD, Savannah, Georgia, March 27, 1865
* Savannah, Georgia
* Rare Southern title
* Civil War original
A scarce title from this Confederate stronghold until it fell to the Yankees on Christmas Day, 1864, just 3 months prior to the printing of this issue.
The front page has "Freedmen's Jubilee at Charleston" and other items. Page 2 includes: "The News" "Victories at Goldsboro Confirmed" "Gen. Grant's Treasury Order" and more. Page 3 is entirely taken up with ads while the back page has a mix of war-related news, ads, and local tidbits.
Very rare to find a newspaper from Union occupied Savannah before the end of the Civil War. Complete in 4 pages, very nice condition.
