This is a genuine five dollar bank note from "The Cochituate Bank" in Massachusetts, dated January of 1850.
As was typical of bank notes of this vintage it has beautiful and intricate engravings on the obverse (see photos), and the word "FIVE" in red ink. The reverse is blank.
Light toning and some mild, even wear. Measures 3 by 7 inches.
