LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED, from New York, dated September 5, 1868 The large frontpage illustration is concerning a famous prison van: "The Black Maria -- Prisoners Leaving The Van At The Foot of 26th Street, New York, To Embark For Blackwell's Island". Inside the issue is a halfpage illustration  "Progress Of The Union Pacific Railroad -- Mrs. Clayton Planting The National Flag On The Summit of The Rocky Mountains, August 9, 1868". Fullpg: "Funeral Of The Late Thaddeus Stevens -- the Final Ceremonies, Lancaster, Pa., Monday, August 17th". The issue contains other news items and advertisement of the day as well.
