A receipt received by the "Collector's Office, Baltimore" denoting a payment "...for Drawbacks of Duties on Merchandise exported..." The receipt is headed: "Collector's Office, Baltimore, 179_" (year not filled in for some reason) and states that a payment was "Received of Robert Purviance, Collector of Baltimore...".
This receipt is dated October 31st of 1797. (see)
There is a signature at the bottom, presumably by the individual who made the payment. Receipt measures 5 3/4 by 7 3/4 inches. Some & water staining, generally in nice condition. A nice display item with a 1790's date. The photo shown in generic. All documents are very similar.
